After college Lisa has gone from job to job never completely satisfied with any of the jobs she held. She was unable to process her own photographs and the professional labs she took her work to did not produce the quality of work that she was expecting. Over time she did less photography, but always thought that some day she would pick the camera back up.
Lisa enjoys spending time outdoors. She took up big game hunting and fishing, and has gone on numerous hunts out west and in Canada. A majority of the material she uses in her art can be found in nature. Every time she goes on vacation she makes plans to search for material that she can not find near her home. On her last trip out west, she came home with some thick cottonwood bark, soapstone, and a buffalo.
Around 2001, Lisa started making antler art and lamps. One day she saw some gourds and had to work with them too. She wanted to start carving on antlers, and to prepare herself for this she started meeting with a woodcarving group in 2004, and has been carving ever since then.
